of her new family. चुन लेते हैं तो लड़के का मामा या अन्य सम्बन्धा जिस मजोमिग’ (निम्न क्षेत्रों के रिवारा की तरह) कहते हैं सरा या छांग लेकर लड़की के मा बाप के घर जाता है और अपने आने का उद्देश्य बताता है। मां बाप आपस में सलाह मशबरा करते है। यदि वे लड़के को योग्य न समझें तो लड़की की मां कहती है कि मैं लड़की से पूछ लूंगी। इसका मतलब है कि प्रस्ताव स्वीकार नहीं और ‘मजोमिग’ छांग को बिना पिए/ पिलाए वापिस आ जाता है। यदि लड़का का बाप मान जाता है तो मजोमिंग’ पांच रूपये उसके सामने रख देता है और सुरा की बोतल भी, ढक्कन पर मक्खन लगा कर उसके सामने रख देता है। वह लड़की के परिवार के सदस्यों के माथे पर मक्खन लगाता है और ‘ताच्छे तमेल ‘दो शब्द कहता है। जिसका अर्थ है” भगवान इस अवसर पर आशीर्वाद दें।” सुरा की बोतल आनन्द से पी जाती है। इस रस्म को कोरयांग कहते हैं। इसके बाद लड़के का मामा दो या तीन बार फिर छांग लेकर लड़की के घर जाता है और आखिरी बार लड़की के घर वालो को लामा द्वारा निश्चित की गई शादी की तिथि बताता है।, शादी की तिथि को दुल्हे का बाप लगभग 15 आदमी बारात में लेकर लड़की के घर जाता है। दुल्हा प्राय: साथ नहीं जाता परन्तु कहीं कहीं दुल्हा भी साथ जाता है। बारात के साथ गांव का बजन्तरी बैंड जाता है । लड़की के घर पहुंचने से पहले गांव का लामा एक थाल मे तीन दीपक और जौ के तीन पिंड बनाकर सभी बारातियों के सिर पर घुमाता है ताकि कोई भूत प्रेत उनके साथ न आया हो । उसके बाद बारात लड़की के घर पहुंचती है। प्रत्येक बाराती को पीला फूल दिया जाता है जो वह टोपी में लगाता है । शराब की महफिल जमती है। सवाल जवाब के रूप में गाने गाए जाते हैं। नाच होता है उसके बाद बारात के दो तीन सदस्य लड़की के कमरे में जाते हैं और गाने व छांग पीने के बाद लड़की के माथे पर मक्खन का टीका लगाते हैं। लड़की को भी उसके मां बाप छांग देते हैं। दूसरे दिन बारात वापिस जाती है। बैंड सबसे आगे जाता है, उसके पीछे लामा, उसके पीछे बाकी। जब बारात लड़के के गांव पहुंचती है तो पहले वह मन्दिर में ठहरते हैं। बाद में लड़की पहले अपनी सास के पास जाती है, झुकती है और एक रूपया देती है। बकरा काटा जाता है, नाच गान, खानपीन होता है और अन्त में दुल्हा उसके गले में सूखे न्योजे और खुमानी की माला डाल कर उसे स्वीकार करता है। दुल्हा और दुल्हन 10/15 दिन के बाद लड़की के मां बाप के घर जाते हैं इस रस्म को ‘मैतनगास्मा’ कहते है और साथ में 10/20 किलो गेहूँ या जौ का आटा ले जाते हैं जो लड़की के सम्बन्धियों में बांटा जाता हैं। सप्ताह भर वहां रहने के बाद वे वापिस आ जाते हैं।, जब कोई लड़का मेले, शादी आदि में से किसी लडकी को जबरदस्ती उठाकर शादी कर लेता है या लड़की लड़के के साथ स्वंय भाग जाती है तो इसे ” हर” शादी कहा जाता है। भागने या भगाए जाने के बाद लड़के के मां बाप बाद में लड़की के मां बाप से समझौता करके उनके लड़के द्वारा किये गए काम के कारण बेइज्जती की क्षतिपूर्ति के लिए 100 से 500 रूपये तक का बकरा आदि लेते हैं। किन्नौर इलाके में ऐसी शादी को दुबदुब, चुचिस या खुटकिमा कहते हैं। एक माह के बाद जब लड़का लड़की को लेकर उसके मायके जाता है तो अपने साथ तीन चार टोकरी पकवान तथा लड़की की मां के लिए सुखे मेवे (खुबानी और न्योजे ) की माला जिसे ‘रम्यूलांग’ कहते हैं ले जाता है। इस संस्कार को को ‘स्टैन-रानीक’कहते है। लड़की का पिता या भाई कुछ दिनों बाद लड़की को उसके ससुराल उपहार सहित छोड़ते हैं। इस प्रकार विवाह पूर्ण हो जाता है।, इस विधि में एक परिवार का भाई अपनी सगी या चचेरी बहन का विवाह अपनी होने वाली पत्नी के भाई या चचेरे भाई से करता है।, इसमें एक परिवार दूसरे को ,दूसरा तीसरे को और तीसरा चौथे को लड़की देने का वायदा करता है। यहां पर विवाह शृंखला रहती है, जब पति पत्नी में अनबन हो जाती है और वे इकट्ठे नहीं रह सकते तो लड़की अपने माँ बाप के घर चली जाती है। लड़की का पिता पूर्व पति को रीत का पैसा देकर जिसमे ,उसके पति द्वारा दिए गए गहने ,कपड़ों की कीमत या शादी के अन्य खर्च शामिल होते है बिना कोई औपचारिक तलाक लिए ,छुड़ा सकता है। दूसरी शादी करने पर यह रीत दूसरे पति द्वारा दी जाती है। पूर्व पति तलाक चाहने वाली पत्नी को छोटी सी छड़ी (डिंगी ) तोड़ने के लिए देता है। यदि लड़की उसे तोड़ देती है तो तलाक पूर्ण माना जाता है। लाहौल क्षेत्र में तलाक के लिए ऊन का पतला धागा तलाक लेने वाला जोड़ा बनाता है। अपनी अंगुली में पकड़कर दोनों धागेको तोड़ देते हैं जिसके बाद दोनों के बीच तलाक पूर्ण मान लिया जाता है।, कुछ समय पहले तक हिमाचल के ऊपरी क्षेत्रों, सिरमौर के गिरी पार के सराज के इलाके में बहुपति प्रथा का प्रचलन था जिसका मूल लोग महाभारत में ढूढते है कि पांचो पाण्डव भाइयों ने एक पत्नी द्रौपदी से विवाह किया था। इस प्रथा के अनुसार सबसे बढ़ा भाई लड़की से शादी करता है और उसे शेष भाई स्वंयमेव ही उसके पति माने जाते हैं। वैवाहिक सम्बन्धो का बंटवारा वे आपसी सहमति से प्रथा के अनुसार करते हैं। इस विवाह से पैदा होने वाली संतान बड़े भाई के नाम दर्ज की जाती है। स्त्री को निष्पक्ष होकर सभी पतियों से एक जैसा व्यवहार करना पड़ता है और इस प्रकार की शादी की सफलता भी स्त्री के निष्पक्ष व्यवहार पर निर्भर करती है। इस प्रथा के समर्थकों का कहना है कि इससे बच्चों की संख्या पर नियन्त्रण रहा है , परिवार में विभाजन नहीं होता है, इकट्ठे परिवार में रहने से परिवार की अर्थदशा ठीक रहती है। भूमि का भी विभाजन नहीं होता। परन्तु समय के परिवर्तन के साथ यह प्रथा समाप्त हो रही है।, एक से अधिक पत्नी रखने की इस प्रथा का भी कहीं कहीं प्रचलन है परन्तु बहुत कम। इसके लिए कारण ज्यादा जमीन या अन्य कारोबार का होना पहली स्त्री के संतान न होना आदि हैं।.
